Just another notebook Part 1She carried it with her everyday. I don’t think I ever saw it out of her hand or off her lap in class. It was black and red, a cross in the front and back. I don’t know whether it was on purpose or not, but the way she held it and wrote in it, the crosses were inverted. It looked evil, as if the Devil had given it to her himself. Once I asked her what it was and all she replied was that “it’s just another notebook.” I let her be after that, but I kept and eye on her. After all, she was bound to be bothered. She never smiled. The corners of her mouth were always turned down,
